This August, El Duende presents a programme that reflects the diversity and character of contemporary flamenco. During the first half of the month, Susana Escoda will bring an innovative style closely connected to singing and rhythm; El Chino, a young dancer from Badalona born into a flamenco family, will showcase the strength of a new generation; and Eli Ayala will bring the experience gained as a principal dancer and through her work with companies such as Antonio Canales’. They will be joined by Azahar Tortajada, who began training at the age of three with renowned flamenco masters; Montserrat Martínez, a Cuban-born dancer trained in Spanish dance with a growing international career; and Pedro Medrano.

During the second half of August, Marta Cañizares, winner of the Best Dancer award at Málaga Crea 2018, will share the stage with José Montes, winner of the Ciudad de Jerez Tablao Dance Competition. The line-up will also feature Sandra Cisneros, a prize-winner at the Tablao Villa Rosa Flamenco Competition and a semi-finalist at the Cante de las Minas Festival; Mathilde Antón, an artist trained in Toulouse, Madrid, Seville and Barcelona; Eli Ayala; and Sergio Barroso. Two outstanding line-ups will bring different styles, generations and ways of experiencing flamenco to El Duende’s intimate stage.
